9 Websites for Diverse Stock Photos

Like most marketing teams, our agency pours a considerable amount of time into sourcing stock images for marketing campaigns. Stock images are a huge creative asset that can either complement or substitute your own photography.

There is, however, a super difficult challenge in finding diverse stock images of BIPOC people on the internet. It is hard to be what you cannot see, and so media that includes Black, Indigenous, or People of Color in everyday lifestyle settings should be a norm.

Below are a few of the top stock image websites that provide libraries of content for such multicultural content.

Macro

Macro was created with a mission to empower and ensure more marginalized artists are afforded the same opportunities as others. It is a collection of CC licensed collection of inclusive stock images and videos made exclusively by BIPOC creators.

Nappy

Nappy was formed by a team that also heads up SHADE, an influencer management agency. Nappy stands out among other diverse stock photography websites for one major reason:its content is FREE! Users are welcome to download, use, and modify Nappy images. Giving credit to the photographer—while not required—is encouraged.

Pocstock

POCstock is a stock image library focused on people-of-color, hence the name! In addition to providing photo content, pocstock is a network of over 800 contributors in over 50 countries. The company partners with its customers as a collaborative diversity partner, creating custom content that connects employees, customers, and culture together.

TONL

TONL is a Ghanian and Nigerian-owned stock image company whose founders—Karen and Joshua—come from creative backgrounds in blogging, photography, and marketing. All too familiar with the lack of diversity in stock photography, the team created TONL to give better visibility to Black culture in the mainstream.  Prices range from $25 al la carte to $105 for 75 photos per month.

CreateHER

The CreateHER website has over 5,500 images of authentic stock photography featuring Black men and women. CreateHER makes it easy for content curators to access both freebies and paid photos for projects and campaigns. The subscription-based pricing caters to both independent users and teams to access images for as little as $10 per month.

Eye for Ebony

Looking for diverse photography that reflects real life? Eye for Ebony is a platform built for just that, with popular image bundles for blogging, t-shirt mockups, and more. Licenses can be purchased for personal, commercial, extended commercial, and enterprise use.

Jopwell

The Jopwell Collection is a small library of over 100 images of Black, Latinx, and Native American professionals. The album was launched by Jopwell, a diversity and inclusion technology company that builds diverse talent pipelines to Corporate America. Jopwell images are free-to-use if credit is given to Jopwell.

Iwaria

As the largest source of free images dedicated to Africa, Iwaria has a vast collection of culturally-centric photography. The Iwaria library includes hundreds of high-quality images of people, food, work, and more. Iwaria encourages creators who would like their work to be featured in its library to use the Instagram hashtag #IwariAfrica.

Mocha Stock

Mocha Stock is unique in that the platform offers both multicultural stock photos and illustrations. Royal-free assets can be purchased and downloaded in various file sizes. Mocha Stock has partnered with both Adobe and Google to provide its library of multicultural media content.
